Bike Design BVBA, to be called “Bike Design” hereafter, is a Belgian enterprise and therefore follows the Belgian jurisdiction regarding protection of personal data.

The European legislation regarding treatment and protection of personal data is active since May 25th 2018. This General Data Protection Regulation will be called “GDPR” hereafter.

Bike Design complies with the demands set in the GDPR. We respect the privacy of all visitors of www.bike-design.com and strive to guarantee their privacy.

With the statement below, we aim to explain which personal data we process and store, why and how we do so, and how you can contact us for any further information.

WHICH DATA DO WE COLLECT

We can collect data when you place an order, when you create an account or when you contact us (via chat, email or via a form on the website).

The following data are mandatory when you create an account or when you place an order:

  • email address
  • phone number
  • first name
  • last name
  • address
  • VAT number (if applicable)

To successfully process an order, we need your name and address data. Your email address and phone number are necessary to be able to communicate with you and to update you on the status of your order.

When you place an order at Bike Design, we store your data on a secured server. You don’t have to create an account, but if you do, we will register your first and last name, email address, phone number, invoicing and delivery address for your convenience because you will not have to fill them in yourself if you place a new order. Your email address will also serve as a login to easily log in to the website during a next visit. If you do not create an account, we will only store your data to be able to process your order.

HOW WE CAN USE AND SHARE YOUR DATA

We will never make your data public and we do not sell your data to third parties.

We collect your personal data to:

  • Deliver the product you purchased on www.bike-design.com.
  • Supply information regarding the status of your order.
  • Only with your explicit consent will we send information regarding news, promotions and competitions at Bike Design. You can ask us to stop sending these newsletters at any time by simply clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the email.

We will share your data with third parties only if this is strictly necessary to provide the service you paid for in the first place. The parties can be couriers, suppliers/manufacturers, repairers, product support departments, payment partners or IT-suppliers. These parties are always in close relation with aftersales service and they are needed to successfully fulfill your order.

These parties will only receive the details they need in order to full fill their role in the support or delivery process. The partners are limited in the ways in which they are allowed to use your data.

We store your data until you ask us to remove it and we deliberately do this to excel in our aftersales support. With around 100.000 products in our catalog, it is extremely difficult to find out which precise product you have purchased with us, especially if you contact us many years after your initial order. Also, some of our suppliers/manufacturers have an extended warranty, up till 5 years and in some cases even unlimited in time. Obviously we will need to be able to track the product’s cycle to help you benefit from this warrantee.

YOUR DATA IS SAFE WITH BIKE DESIGN

Bike Design strives to protect your personal data. We have set in place a series of measures to ensure that your data is protected against unauthorized access, inappropriate use, intentional loss or theft.

All Bike Design’s employees who have access to your data because of their role in the order processing, respect the privacy of these personal data.

Bike Design cannot be held responsible for any direct or indirect damage caused by false or inappropriate use of data by a third party.
